Office Depot is advertising $1,300 in free software after rebate, but beware of rebates that require proof that you're a current user since they're not actually free unless you are in fact a current user of the previous version.

Office Max is advertising a product for as low as 1 cent, however this is not actually free since they do not offer a cash refund, only store credit through their rewards program.

Be sure to read and follow the fine print of all promotions to avoid any problems.

Students of any age can create a profile and FastWeb will match them with available scholarships that match their criteria. While some scholarships depend on grades there are tons that don't. Many of them only require an essay to apply. Welcome to Web Freebie Wednesday, the mid-week event featuring the best freebies of the web. Today's freebie is Mozilla Firefox. Firefox is a free web browser from the folks that gave us last week's freebie, Thunderbird. It is feature-rich, much safer than Microsoft's Internet Explorer, and free. Its presence is perhaps the reason why most popular web browsers have tabbed browsing today and why they are all free. I still keep Microsoft IE since there are some web pages and web-based applications that require it. But for most other internet activities, Firefox is a good way to go.

WEB FREEBIE WEDNESDAY: Mozilla Thunderbird

Welcome to Web Freebie Wednesday, the mid-week event featuring the best freebies of the web. Today's freebie is Mozilla Thunderbird. Last week the freebie was Gmail, a free POP3 email service from Google. A POP3 email account allows you to use an email client from your desktop. An email client downloads your email and offers tons of additional features to emailing activities. Many of these features are especially good for business purposes, but can be applied at home for personal uses as well. Such features include an audio announcement for when you receive mail (either a bell ring or the classic "you've got mail" voice). You can also set up automatic replies, create email templates, include an automatic footer to all your outgoing emails featuring your name and business, as well as many other features. If you sell digital content online, then an email client can be especially useful since you can set it up to recognize when you've made a sale and automatically send the digital goods to the buyer. The most common email client is Microsoft Outlook which is included when you buy Microsoft Office. One of the best free alternative email clients is Mozilla Thunderbird, brought to us by the same folks that created next week's web freebie. Thunderbird has a very clean look to it and it has most, if not all, of the features that are expected with an email client.

The top 3 pilots in the world are training with the newest and most advanced planes that the Naval Air Force has to offer in the near future. We're Moving

Special Announcement: ActuallyFree.info is changing webhosts. ActuallyFree.info has been a side project of mine over the last 3 1/2 years. I needed a side income for school and I wanted to show others that it's possible to make money online with free resources. I also wanted to demonstrate that there are products and services that you can actually get for free (and legally) if you know where to look or what to do. The idea was to use free web building tools and free hosting from OfficeLive.com (a free service offered by Microsoft), build a website with free content and then get paid for advertising. It has been working out pretty well, though hasn't quite reached the level I was hoping for yet. There are still multiple pages on the site that I was looking to update and make more presentable, but now that will have to wait. OfficeLive has announced that their free website services will be ending in April and there is no automatic way to transfer the site to their new service. At this point I'd be willing to pay for the new service since the site is earning enough to make ends meet. However, since I have to transfer all the information manauly anyway, I figured I might as well switch to a new free service. So the new home of ActuallyFree.info will be Google Sites. There is info there now that you are welcome to read. However, I suspect it will take a while before I get everything added the way I want it. Until then, this blog will still be active with the weekly events of Free Movie Monday, Web Freebie Wednesday and Free Stuff Friday. The freebie finding help service will also still be available with this blog.

WEB FREEBIE WEDNESDAY: Gmail

Welcome to Web Freebie Wednesday, the mid-week event featuring some of the best freebies of the web. Today's freebie is Gmail, the free email service offered by Google. A lot of people already know about free email on the internet and they already know about Gmail in particular. So you may be wondering why Gmail was chosen as this week's freebie. The reason is that Gmail, unlike other free email services, offers what is called a POP3 email account. This means that you can use it with email client software, such as Microsoft Outlook. Of course, since you would have to pay for Microsoft Outlook, (it's included when you buy Micrsoft Office), this blog would never suggest that you use it. Visit this blog again for the next Web Freebie Wednesday for an awesome free alternative to Microsoft Outlook.

While free email has become the norm for the internet, it should not be under-appreciated. It comes with free hosting to store email files and attachments, which the major providers could charge for, but thankfully they don't. Like most free services offered online, free email is supported by advertising. In my oppinion, Gmail is the best free email available. But for those of you who want to avoid letting Google take over the world, the two major competitors for free email are Yahoo! mail and MSN Hotmail.
